Easy Mai Tai Recipe

Here’s my go to recipe for a Mai Tai cocktail:
Ingredients:
- 1 oz white rum
- 1 oz dark rum
- ½ oz orange curaçao
- ½ oz almond syrup
- ¾ oz fresh lime juice
- ¼ oz simple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
- Crushed ice
- Mint sprig and lime wheel (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Mix the Ingredients:
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the white rum, orange curaçao, orgeat syrup, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup (if using). Fill the shaker halfway with crushed ice.
- Shake Well:
- Shake the mixture vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until well chilled.
- Pour:
- Fill a glass (preferably a double old-fashioned glass or tiki mug) with crushed ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over the ice.
- Top with Dark Rum:
- Gently float the dark rum on top by pouring it slowly over the back of a spoon, so it layers on the surface of the drink.
- Garnish:
- Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lime wheel for a classic tropical look.
